This book just had it all! All the tropes I love, wrapped into one book. This was a first read by Jacqueline and this book is a first in a new series of hers revolving around the Central State football team.
Luca is a tight end for the football team, grumpy, and a one night stand type of guy. He's closed off to relationships because he needs to make it to the NFL so he can financially support his grandmother since she's in assisted living. Lorelei is a sunshiney, true love, soccer player for the same college. Her housing got sold so she had to find a place to live for the semester, so she ended up moving in with her twin brother, Dean who is the QB, and some of the other football players.
Luca always seemed to put her mind at ease and he was always able to be himself around her. But at the same time he always seemed to take one step forward and then two steps back when it came to feelings and Lorelei.
This book was such a great read! The angst, the burn!!! This book was such a slow burn but when it ignited damn there was fire!!! I loved the supporting characters, they were great and I hope the next books follow them!
